Weekly workout for men: The difference between what you want now and what you really want

We like to go about things all wrong.

Instead of doing the work. We like to read about how to do it, or make a plan how to do it, but never actually do it.

In fact, if we could pay someone to do it, we would do it.

Lots of people want to get in great shape, and become physically fit. So they pay someone else to try and do it for them. Personal trainers know how to get you into shape, but you still have to do the work.

Become a Man Among Men: 16 movies that will help you navigate all of the trials and victories in your life

Sometimes a man's education about being a man can come from watching movies or reading books and observing masculine behavior. However, some of the behaviors are flawed and shouldn't be learned, but as you continue to observe, you can take what is useful, and discard the rest.

Typically man has a couple things that are solid in his life that we can all relate to:

  • He has a purpose

  • He has been rejected or betrayed

  • He wants revenge

  • He has a woman that he loves

  • He has his own code

How to be a better man in a world that always wants a quick fix or some form of medication

How to be a better man in a world that always wants a quick fix or some form of medication

Most people want a quick fix.

They want a fabricated version of themselves.

Not only that, but they want, processed food, microwaveable snack dinners, Keurig coffee, on demand streaming movies, fast-lane checkouts, grocery pick-up in a car.

We like things how we want them, when we want them, and in the best quality possible. We are a highly consumerist culture, and we are driven by our "We want it now, mentality." It's really kind of sad.

We no longer know the term patience, or wait, we just don't have time in our lives for it.

Weekly Workout For Men: CrossFit can change your life, and how to do 100 pull-ups in under 3 minutes

One year ago I started CrossFit, competed in the CrossFit open and learned how to do muscle-ups, Olympic lifts and double-unders among other things.

How to improve grip strength: 5 exercises that you can do to have a GI Joe Kung-Fu Grip

Watching this I can't help it that my hands start to perspire, my stomach gets a little tense, and I start to have a sense of impending doom.

I recently watched another movie called "nerve", and this kid has to hang from a crane by one hand as he stares down at the city below.

I don't know that I have the grip strength or the guts to do something like that, but what I do know is how to increase grip strength, thus increasing my chances of survival should I ever be caught in either of these situations.

Weekly Workout for Men: A grueling test of physical and mental endurance, plus some gymnastics

A thruster uses the entire body to move a barbell from the bottom of a squat to shooting it overhead, it is impossible to do without using your legs, hence "Thrust".

Why am I telling you all of this, and why should you care?

Well, it is quite possibly one of the best workouts to do. You simply finish it, when you finish it. However, when the body pushes at 90-95% of it's total capacity, something crazy happens. You start to produce HGH or Human Growth Hormone, when this occurs you start burning fat and building muscle, and that is why this workout and almost all Cross Fit workouts are better for you than anything you can do at the run of the mill gym.

Weekly Workout for Men: Making Fitness a part of your life doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice something, instead, you will have time for so much more.

When I first started exercising consistently about 7 years ago, I didn't think that I had time to do it. I'm sure that I am not alone.

In fact, it seems to be one of the biggest reasons why most people do not continue with a workout routine for any length of time. There are other contributing factors, but this seems to be the one that comes up mostly in conversation.

Warrior Virtues: The simple characteristics that separate the ordinary man from the uncommon man

Warrior Virtues: The simple characteristics that separate the ordinary man from the uncommon man

In episode 7 of the Podcast I talked about the thief and the warrior.

We all have these two opposing forces inside of us every day.  One of them is the warrior or the man we are made to be, and the other is the thief or the man that wants to keep us from being the warrior.

We should all now realize that we are in a battle and be taking action to combat the thief.

However, what kinds of virtues or character traits should we be seeking to possess, develop and hone?

I wanted to do some research on what other warrior cultures throughout history had for their virtues, and what I found was mostly the same across all of them.

Which leads me to believe that we are all looking to the same thing.
