Living a legacy: 5 Things Every Man Should Seek to Accomplish in his Life

Every man wants to be great.

He wants to leave a legacy, be remembered for something.

Unfortunately most of the time, that's as far as it goes, it's only a thought. Rarely do dreams become realities through thinking alone.

A man has to strive to take action on his dreams, and his goals. When he doesn’t he becomes lethargic, depressed, envious and restless. Things that lead to an early death.

Not necessarily a physical death, but a death within, a death of the spirit within him.

The light burns out.

Every day a man has a choice to be great, to make audacious goals, to pursue his dreams, and live the life he truly desires to live.

  • He can watch TV or Workout
  • He can work on his goals, or he can hang out on Facebook
  • He can take action, or he can play a game on his phone.

Each of these has two scenarios. Both of them are choices, and both of them have results.

Whatever a man aims at, he will eventually hit.

What are you aiming at?

A man needs to seek to accomplish 5 things in his life, that go counter to this culture. He needs to set himself apart, and be the man he was made to be.

Every day a man should be on a mission to be the man that he is meant to be, the one that he knows he can be. Not a boy with foolish fantasies, or selfish motives, but a man of character, integrity, and humility.

A Man Needs to Strengthen His Body

Socrates said it best, “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

I’m not talking about going to a nice gym with air conditioning and flexing in front of the mirrors, and watching your skin glow from the incandescent lighting. That’s for the birds.

I’m talking about the gritty, sweat filled gyms and garages where people go to train. They don’t go for vanity or self-interest, they go to fight off the demons in their life, to outwork their bad habits, to demolish the negativity of the day.

They are training for life, they are preparing to do battle with whatever tries to steer them away from their goals.

This is where you will find strength, discipline, community and ambition.

Some men who are insecure and weak will tell you that physical strength isn’t as good as spiritual training. They are wrong. They go hand in hand. You can’t have one without the other, at least not if you want to be the man you were made to be.

Discipline, Suffering, Obstacles, setbacks, and grief is what breeds strong men. Get in the arena.
