15 Books that Every Man “Should” Read in his Lifetime: About Men, For Men, and Written by Men

15 Books that Every Man “Should” Read in his Lifetime: About Men, For Men, and Written by Men

There are a lot of bloggers, people, and websites that tell you that you "should" read certain books if you are a man, and they focus on things like how to dress, or how to behave.

Most of them tell you that you should read “The Great Gatsby”, or “The Catcher in the Rye.”

Living a legacy: 5 Things Every Man Should Seek to Accomplish in his Life

Every man wants to be great.

He wants to leave a legacy, be remembered for something.

Unfortunately most of the time, that's as far as it goes, it's only a thought. Rarely do dreams become realities through thinking alone.

Lessons on people pleasing from Machiavelli and Robert Glover: From Nice Guy to the Assertive Man

Are you a "Nice Guy?"

We all have the makings of “Nice Guys”, and our culture loves for us to be those guys, but the people around us suffer for it, our society suffers. What we need are assertive men, that get in front of problems, confront stuff that is wrong, say what they mean, and learn how to have their needs met and fulfilled without means of manipulation, secrecy or deception.

Discipline for the morning: How to build strength, conquer your goals, and stay positive throughout the day

For years I would tell myself that I needed to get my finances under control. Months would go by and I would continue to tell myself that I should exercise.

But I didn’t. Every passing day, I became more and more in debt, and less healthy.

It started to affect my mood, my energy level, and the way that I treated other people.

It seemed that no matter what I did, I couldn’t break free. I tried doing one of those mail away exercise routines. I just couldn’t stay consistent.

You look around to hear the overwhelming roar emerging from behind you, it sounds like thunder as it cracks. You instantly turn around to see a giant grizzly sniffing the air and making eye contact with you as it begins it's charge. You have about two seconds to figure out what you are going to do.

The lost virtues of a man part 2: How to navigate through this modern culture with integrity, strength, confidence and character

Today I don't believe that most men know how to change the tire on their car or how to fix their own lawnmower, or how to fight. The thought of a fight send our culture into a frenzy.

It is a lack of not wanting to learn, and our culture being to convenient. Hard things create hard men. Easy things create lazy, soft men.

Something is deeply wrong.

The lost virtues of a man part 1: How to navigate through this modern culture with integrity, strength, confidence and character

I’m often frustrated when I look around, or when I am at church, and especially when I am with a group of men with their families.

Do you know why?

You see, men of this day and age have lost something inherent, something primal, and something that is planted deep inside of them…It’s their identity, their manhood.
